Summary of Position

The Bartender is responsible for the execution of the Beverage Program as directed by the Cloud Nine Restaurant Group’s Beverage Director. 

Duties & Responsibilities

Guest Service:

  • Execute service standards with accuracy and consistency.

  • To understand the culture and mission of the beverage program and communicate this to the guest through service and results.

  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with guests.

  • Promote a positive perception of the company at all times both internally and externally.

  • Be aware of and anticipate guests’ needs.

  • Promote a positive attitude and team ethic, including ‘lead by example’, for the bar, setting the pace and standards and encouraging mutual respect.

Cost Controls:

  • Perform weekly Beverage Inventory (Sunday PM) with accuracy.

  • Ensure that vendor deliveries agree to the Purchase Orders in quantity and price.

  • Record waste on Weekly Waste Log.

  • Ensure that all inventory items are properly stored and labelled.

Operations:

  • Ensure that all cocktails are batched to par levels.

  • Ensure that drink standards (timing, garnishes, quality) are consistent and present daily.

  • Ensure all inventory and beverage products are stocked prior to service (both alcohol and non-alcoholic).

  • Ensure daily and weekly bar cleaning and maintenance completed as dictated by the Bar Bible.

Reporting:

  • Communicate all pertinent information (guest feedback, issues, inventory adjustments) with Beverage Director on daily basis.

  • Log any information important to the beverage program, service, and POS in the daily notes section of the Bar Bible in preparation for the weekly meeting with Beverage Director.  

  • Inform the Beverage Director and/or GM and/or FOH MOD about any vital details pertaining to the execution and maintenance of the Beverage Program.

 

Compliance:

  • Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements of the restaurant, employees and guests.

  • Ensure that all local, state and federal ordinances are followed as they pertain to the restaurant including alcohol compliance..

  • Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and kept in excellent working condition through personal inspection and by following the restaurant’s preventative maintenance programs.

Qualifications

  • Be 21 years of age.

  • Have knowledge of service and food and beverage, generally involving at least five years of front-of-the-house operations and/or assistant management positions.

  • Possess a high level of knowledge one spirits, wine, beer, and cocktails. 

  • Possess excellent basic math skills and have the ability to operate a cash register or POS system.

  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours).

  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Must have the stamina to work 50 hours per week.
